Our longest trip yet! |
Heading east into the Columbia basin. Weather changes
to very warm - with spectacular scenery along the way.
All 195.3 miles. This picture is from a very windy view above the river. |
Eventually (after a slight 13 mile missed turn), we arrive in time for the start of the Rodeo. Quite an event for Coulee City (population 600 or so). Five events were on the cards. |
First was the Saddle Bronc. (Mad horses who want to get you off!) |
Then the Tie Down Roping. (This guy wasn't even the fastest time!!!) |
Bull Riding (Very Painful) |
Steer Wrestling (Jump off your horse onto a steer, and turn it on its back) |
And finally "Girls" Barrel Racing (Racing your horse around three barrels) |
A few more Rodeo pictures... |
Next on to
Dry Falls The largest waterfall known to have existed. (last flowed 12000 years ago) 3.5 miles of cliffs - with a
400 feet drop. |
Finally a quick stop-off at some local caves. The largest of which housed up to 50 Native Americans. |
And back south to Ephrata, to
the seediest motel in existence. (Well it was Memorial Day weekend, and we did book on the day) |
